Richard “Pete” Douglas Martinez, 80, of Tan-Cam Drive, died Monday, May 9,2 016, at Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Martinez was born August 14, 1935, in Guilford County, to Nicholas Tolentino Martinez and Annie Houston Martinez. He had worked as a surveyor with True Love Engineering and later retired from Boiler International. He enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys football games and college basketball games. He also found joy in family gatherings and visitors stopping by. Completing many a “Honey Do” list is how he filled his days. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, David Martinez and Leonard Martinez; sisters, Yvonne Martinez, Magdalene Camp, and Clemensia Pridemore; and grandson, Sammy Faulkner. Surviving are his loving wife Julie Ann Martinez of the home; sons, Ricky Martinez Jr. and wife Melody of Seagrove, and Tino Martinez of Lexington; daughters, Tina Clement and husband Kim of Lexington, Glenda Cortese and husband Joe of Homestead, Fl., and Cathie Faulkner of Greensboro; grandchildren, Sammy Faulkner, Derek Faulkner, Ashley Iglesias, Justin Clement, and Michael Owens; great-grandchildren, Abigail Iglesias and Nicole Faulkner; brothers, Nick Martinez and Felix Martinez, both of Greensboro; and sisters, Nancy Powell of Greensboro, Geneva Bourgeous of Lutcher, La., Terri Mintz of Randleman, and Mary Boyer of Asheboro.
