Mr. Prevette was born June 24, 1953, in Davidson County to Vander Turner Prevette and Dorcas Tate Prevette. He retired from Davidson County Public Works as a supervisor and was a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Townsend.
Our Popsker, Pappy, Ricky danced to the beat of his own music. He could light up a room with his smile, laughter, and silliness. With him there was no staying on the beaten path, life was always an adventure. He instilled in us the importance of appreciating what we had, work ethic, not taking life so seriously, and most of all he taught us what it meant to love Christmas, traditions, and each other.
Surviving is his loving wife, Renee Snellings Prevette; one son, David Prevette (Tricia) of Lexington; one daughter, Dawn Wilson (Loyd) of Wake Forest; three brothers, Ted Prevette of Lexington, Paul Prevette (Trisha) of Welcome; Mark Prevette (Vicky) of Yadkinville; four sisters, Peggy Prevette Utt (Ken) of Kenly, Janice Hedrick (Kenny) of Lexington, Brenda Forrest (Rick) of Welcome; one brother in-law, Mike Townsend of Lexington; and four grandchildren, Peyton Prevette, Riley Prevette, Gabby Wilson, and Alexa Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pastor’s Pantry PO Box 2051 Lexington, NC 27293.
