Richard Paul Shaw, 80, of Lexington NC and formerly of Newport, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Richard was born on June 19, 1944 in Bristol, Connecticut to the late Willard Fredrick Shaw and Audrey Grace Vallerand. He is preceded by his sister in law Carole Shaw.
Along with his twin brother Robert, Richard honorably served his country in the United State Navy working many positions and has traveled to many different countries. He was on the Frontline during the 13 day Cuban Missle Crisis Campaign, served in the African Campaign, and also 2 Tours in Vietnam. Stationed in Naples Italy raising hell from Port to Port with brother Robert were some of the happier times they shared.
Besides the Navy he loved boating. He was at home on the open water. He had a passion for train sets, automobiles, and his friends and family.
He eventually moved back to Lempster Hampshire where he spent most of his time with his brother and sister in law Carole. They loved to restore old tractors, Visit with the town folk, and spread the duo action comedy everywhere they could.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two children, daughter Brenda Shaw and son Christopher Shaw; brother, Willard Shaw, twin brother, Robert Shaw; niece, Rachael Shaw Phillips, her husband John; niece, April Shaw; nephew, Edward Shaw and wife Karen; and many great nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH with full military honors.
