Richard Wayne Smith

HEADING NAME: Richard Smith Richard Wayne Smith, 71, of Horseshoe Neck Road, Lexington, died Tuesday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Lexington Medical Center following a brief illness. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday at Davidson funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Mills officiating service. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, Chapel. Mr. Smith was born March 14, 1943 in Rowan County, to Aubrey Lee Smith and Dorothy Hoskins Smith. He attended Higher Ground Baptist Church and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. After serving his country in the United States Navy, he became a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene Smith and Stanley “Pete” Smith Surviving are his wife Judie Goble Smith of the home; two sons Rodney Smith and fiancé, Teresa Snider of Linwood and Britt Smith and wife Anita of Fort Bragg North Carolina; as well as three grandchildren.
