Richmond Watson Townsend, Sr. age 75 of Old US Highway 52, Lexington passed away Sunday morning at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Friends and family will gather at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington Wednesday night (6-18-2008) from 6 until 8 pm.
Richmond was born in Danville, Virginia November 25, 1932 to Frank Townsend and Virginia Perdue Townsend. He was a retired employee of Acme Face Veneer, and a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents,
a sister Virginia Hinkle and brothers Tony, Bobby and Eugene Townsend.
Surviving are: two sons; R.W. “Ricky” Townsend and Larry Townsend both of Hickory, three daughters; Lona Hedrick and husband Steve of Hickory, Lori Jalanda Parker and husband Keith of Greensboro and Wenn Friesen and husband Dan of Minneapolis, MN,
the mother of his children Madeline Stafford of Hickory, three grandsons; Nathan, Brian and Brandon, four granddaughters; Elizabeth, Jody, Madeline and Josephine, two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson, one brother; Cleveland Townsend and sister in law;
Lois Townsend of Lexington and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Mary Gales and friends for their LOVE and SUPPORT during his illness.
