Richard “Rick” Canady, 72 of Fairview Acres Road, died Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Pastor David Kelley and Benny Clodfelter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 pm to 8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington, Friday, June 10, 2022.
Rick was born August 7, 1949, in Davidson County to Samuel Woodrow Canady and Peggy Myers Canady. He retired from City of Lexington, served in the National Guard, was the past president of Reedy Creek Lions Club and Welcome Booster Club, enjoyed volunteering coaching the Girls Softball and Basketball team for North Davidson and little league Basketball for Welcome. Rick is preceded in death by his parents and brother in-law, Michael Tetter, nephew Tommy C. Freeman.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Hanes Canady 49 years of the home; son Richard Craig Canady II (Stefanie) of Lexington, daughter Natalie Canady Walser (Scott Everhart) of Clemmons, sister, Debbie Canady Tetter, five grandchildren, Richard Craig Canady III (Trace), Deacon Canady, Ty Walser, Maddox Laughlin, Nate Harris and extended family; David Walser, Christina Harris, David Harris, a special 3-legged buddy Odie and a host of nieces and nephews. Sister-in-laws; Kaye Anderson (William), Jane Freeman (Tom), Robyn Bruff (Tim), Aunt Sis, Donna Duggins (Ronnie), brother in-laws Steve Walker (Tonya), and Avery Walker. Breakfast group at Randy’s, right arm-Jessie Jenkins, ballgame buddy, Ronnie Regan and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Family Life Center and North Davidson Senior High Booster Club.
