Riley Workman Cope

Riley Workman Cope, age 88 of Lexington passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Trellis of Winston Salem.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 30, 2020 at Gethsemane Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Perkins officiating.  Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service and at other times at their respective homes.

Mr Cope was born January 31, 1932 in Davidson County to Riley Columbus Cope and Addie Workman Cope. He was retired from Roadway Express and later worked for Coble Dairy.  He was a member of Spruce Street Baptist Church. His parents, his wife, Mildred Lorene Shumaker Cope and his son Riley Cope all preceded him in death. Also preceding in death was his brothers, Eugene Cope, Clayton Cope and a sister, Helen Hill.

Surviving are his daughters, Patricia Cope Hester (Ron), Wanda Cope Wingrove (Eddie) all of Lexington; grandchildren, Michelle Wingrove Schaefer (Benjamin), William Copelin Hester (Taylor), Payton McKinley Hester and a great granddaughter, Paisley Caroline Hester.
