Rita Bell Treichler, lovingly known as “Mama Rita” to many who knew her, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 65. Born in Kermit, WV, on July 27, 1959, Rita’s life was a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. She never met a stranger—by the end of a conversation, she had a new friend.
Throughout her life, Rita called many places home, including Granville, OH, and Buffalo, NY, before settling in Lexington, NC, where she built a life centered around family, friendship, and community. She coached softball, directed youth theater, hosted pasta nights for the soccer team, and always had a hug ready for anyone who needed one. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, she went above and beyond for those she loved.
She found joy in sewing and quilting, weaving warmth and love into every stitch. She also cherished the adventures of traveling, always eager to see new places and meet new people. Her kindness, humor, and boundless generosity touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love.
Rita is survived by her husband, Scott; her four children, Robert (Sarah), Shelby, Regan (Benjamin), and William (Erin); and her two cherished grandchildren, Cayden and Scott. She is also survived by her brother, Karl, and his wife, Lyda. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charles and Mary Bell.
A celebration of Rita’s life will be held on March 8, 2025, at her home from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. All who knew and loved her are invited to come, share stories, and enjoy food in her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Davidson County in her honor.
Though she is no longer with us, Rita’s spirit lives on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
