Rivers Delayte Adkins, 77, of Davidson County passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.
Rivers was born on January 23, 1947, to the late William Nathas Adkins and Clora Lee Williams Adkins. After graduating high school, he served his country in the Marines and was proud to be a USMC Veteran. He later went on to work in construction for many years.
Rivers was known to be a music lover and loved to share new music he found with his family. His favorite genre was classic country, especially Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Jr. Rivers loved NASCAR and was a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt.
Family and friends will remember him as someone who was genuine and though stubborn and blunt, was honest and straight forward. What you saw was what you got with Rivers, and one always knew where they stood with him. It was a privilege to be in his circle.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Adkins.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Wesley Kirk Adkins (Brittainy), and Travis Chase Adkins (Andie); grandchildren, Jersey Sink, Kaiyah Adkins, Anya Adkins, Morgan Carpenter (Jesse), Rivers Adkins (Hope), Montana Yaden, Travis Adkins Jr. (Elizabeth), Jonathan Adkins, and Hayley Bree Adkins; and great grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter, Ameila Carpenter, Kinsley Yaden, Kip Adkins, and Phoenix McElveen.
