Robert Leon Bates

Robert Leon Bates age 79, of Meadowview Road, died Thursday morning at Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday January 2, 2010 at LightHouse Baptist Church with Pastor Avery Varnadore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Bates was born May 2, 1930 in Davidson County to Lotus Ward Bates and Susie Cornelia Bates. He retired from Stroh’s Brewery Company with 20 years of service and a member of Light House Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Mary Maxine Arrowood Bates of the home. A son; Gary Bates and wife Debbie of Welcome, brothers; Claude Bates and wife Bonnie, Jimmy Bates and wife Bobbi, Bryce Bates and wife Sue all of Welcome. A grandchild; Jennifer Bates of Lexington. The family will recieve friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday January 1, 2010 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.
