Robert Wesley Benton

Robert “Wesley” Benton passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at his home on Tyro Road surrounded by his devoted family.  He loved the Lord and was a devout parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Wesley, a hard-working, talented, giving person, was employed by Energizer.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Whether spending time in the pool, collecting shark teeth at the beach or traveling with Kitty, he loved spending time with family.  He was the son of Ross Wesley Grubb (Vikie) and Mary Francis Garner Benton (Carldon).  He is survived by his wife, Catherine Ann Benton; his sons, Wesley Robert Benton (Jamie) and John Ross Benton (Shana) and his daughter, Angela Benton Brown (Benjamin).  “Pawpaw” had 6 granddaughters; Haley, Breanna, Hannah, Kailey, Lillian and Autumn, whom he adored.  He is also survived by his brother, Jeff “Shorty” Grubb; sister, Cheryl Lewter (Lane); half-sister, Paula Absher, four step sisters and 2 step brothers.  The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 23rd from 6-8 pm and other times at the home.  A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am Friday, August 24th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salisbury.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
