Robert “Bob” James Almstead, 70, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Almstead was born March 4, 1943, in Westchester County, NY, to James Buddington Almstead and Josephine Smercak Almstead. He was a retired pilot from American Airlines; a member of the Allied Pilots Association and Experimental Aircraft In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William Almstead.
Surviving are his loving wife, Tempie Swing Almstead of the home; son, Jeff Swing (Celestial) of Lexington; daughter, Jodi Hernandez (Phil) of Lexington; grandchildren, Kali Swing Kesler (Seth), Dallas Swing (Jennifer), Phillip Hernandez, and Reid Hernandez; great-grandchild, Camden Swing; brother, James Almstead of New York; and sister, Harriett Leibel of New York.
