Robert (Bob) Maxwell Phillips

Robert (Bob) Maxwell Phillips, age 66, of Lexington passed away Saturday January 17, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 22, 2015 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. G. Ray Emerson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday night and at other times at the home of Opal Kimbrell, 326 Western Blvd. Bob was born in Milford Delaware, July 5, 1948 to Harvey Maxwell and Elizabeth Swift Phillips. He was a retired employee of Lexington Telephone with over 30 years of service and a member of their Pioneer Club. He portrayed Santa Claus for numerous organizations at Christmas. He volunteered with Special Olympics and other charitable organizations. He enjoyed boating and fishing, playing scrabble, bridge and other games, and teaching others to fish, particularly his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy Kimbrell Phillips, and father-in-law, Jim Kimbrell. Surviving are his daughter, Christina A. Phillips of Lexington; mother-in-law, Opal Kimbrell of Lexington; brothers, Michael D. Phillips (Miranda) of Mechanicsville, VA, Douglas S. Phillips (Marilyn) of Hendersonville, NC and William M. Phillips (Karen) of Port Penn, Delaware; Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
