Robert “Elwood” Brinkley 78, of Tall Pines Road, died Thursday February 12, 2009 at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on February 14, 2009 at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Hochmuth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Brinkley was born February 1, 1931 in Davidson to Lacy O. Brinkley and Maggie Curry Brinkley. He was retired from TFI after 40 years of service. He was of Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Charles Franklin Brinkley. A brother Joe Wayne Brinkley.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Dorothy Baker Brinkley of the home; a daughter, Barbara Brinkley Sink and husband Ronald V. of Lexington; A sister Edna Brinkley Clark of Thomasville; grandchildren, Ronald Jason Sink and his wife, Jonelle, and Kristy Dawn Tarleton and her husband Casey; great-grandchild, Hunter Kent Jordan, Tanner Vann Jordan, Matthew Jackson Tarleton, Joseph Ronald Sink, John Thomas Sink.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday February 13, 2009 at Davidson Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel other times at the home.
