Robert Bynum Byrd, age 61 of Lexington passed away, January 5, 2010. He had been in declining health for the last six months.
Burial will be 10:00 am Friday (January 22, 2010) at Salisbury National Cemetery. No formal funeral service or visitation will be held.
Robert was born in Wilkes County to Fred B. Byrd and Lucy Goss Byrd. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ola Mae Bowen in 1995.
Robert spent a good part of his childhood at Mills Home in Thomasville. He later joined the Army and served two tours of duty in Vietman. Robert was self employed and worked for a number of years for Mark Klass, wife Becky and Ellie with whom he had a very close relationship.
He is survived by a brother, James M. Byrd and wife Barbara of Thomasville; half sister, Violet Key of Millers Creek and friend Mary Wilson of the home. Also surviving are his children, Justin Byrd, Jessica Wodohodsky and Benjamin Byrd all of Missouri.
