Robert Leon Cline Sr.

June 30, 1934 — January 24, 2023

Robert Leon Cline Sr., 88, of Ridge Road in Lexington, passed away Tuesday January 24, 2023 at his home.

A visitation will be held at Pilgrim Reformed Church one hour prior from 1:00 to 2:00 pm

A memorial service will held 2:00 pm Sunday January 29, 2023 at Pilgrim Reformed Church with Pastor Richard Moore conducting services.

Leon was born in Iredell County NC on June 30, 1934. He graduated in the last graduating class from Welcome School in 1952. He retired as a tool and die maker after working 37 ½ years at Western Electric/AT&T in Winston-Salem NC.

Leon was a member of Pilgrim Reformed Church and sang in the choir. He was known in the community for singing the hymn “Sweet Beulah Land”.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Carl James (Pop) and Louise Hartley Cline, and an infant great-grandson, Connor Billings.

Leon is survived by his wife, LaRue Leonard Cline, and children Steve Cline (Christine); Judy C. Billings (Bert); R. Dulagne Cline; and Robert L. Cline Jr. (Annette). His grandchildren include Catherine B. Morse (Jeff); Carl Robert Billings (Lisa); Ashley Cline Strong (Mark); James Cline Jr. (Tracie); T.J. Heath, and Josh Heath (Bethany); Great grandchildren, Baylee, Julianna, Rachael Carman, Robert, and Frank Morse, Emmy and Lily Billings, and Colby Heath. He is also survived by his brother, John H. (Jack) Cline (Gloria); niece, Gloria C. Caldwell and nephew, Kenneth Cline (Jan), brother-in law Wayne M. Leonard, sisters-in-law, Nancy L. Baker and Sarah Y. Leonard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pilgrim Reformed Church, 797 Pilgrim Church Road, Lexington NC 27295

The family would like to give a special thanks to his doctors, Dr. Ted Nifong and Dr. Ed Hill; Hospice of Davidson County staff, especially Kendall Russian and Anibal Recinos; and to caregivers Debra Henderson, the Herrera family, Melody Lindsay, Sydney May, April Causey, our dear neighbors and our church.

Heartfelt thanks to  his daughter Dulagne who cared tirelessly for him during the last few years of his life.
