Robert Alpheus Clodfelter, age 90 of Hege Drive, Lexington died Friday night in the Palliative Care Unit at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Calvary United Church of Christ, in Thomasville, with Rev. Kelly Barefoot, Rev. Harold Holste and Rev. Mike Hooper officiating, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Robert was born in Davidson County, June 2, 1917 to Charles Alpheus Clodfelter and Rosa Fritts Clodfelter. He was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ and attended First Reformed United Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Kingswood Christian College with at BA in Theology and traveled, ministering to people throughout the eastern part of the country. After ministry he moved back to Thomasville, and worked for a number of years
at Belk-Beck Store in Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles Clifton Clodfelter, Hoy Derwood Clodfelter and Joe Fritts Clodfelter, sisters Kathleen Clodfelter Sykes and Lillie Ree Clodfelter.
He was survived by, his Sister; Mildred Clodfelter Hilton with whom he made his home for the past 16 years, Nieces; Betty McLeod of Fort Mill, SC and Jane Moore of Melbourne, FL, Nephews; Richard Sykes of Pinebluff, NC, Glenn Lewis Myers of High Point and Greely M. “Gig” Hilton, Jr. of Lexington.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington from 6 until 7 pm Monday and from 10:00 until 11:00 Tuesday at the Church prior to the service.
