Robert Conner

Robert Conner, age 80 of Turner Road, Lexington passed away with family by his side Monday, July 31, 2023, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem.

A graveside service to honor Robert will be held 10:00 am Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Holly Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery with Pastor Anna Carter officiating. Family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.

Robert was born in Columbus County, NC September 21, 1942, to Frank Braxton Conner and Bessie Coleman Conner. Robert was a self-employed brick mason and stone masonry. He semi-retired in the 60’s but continued to lay brick even up to the last weeks before his death. Robert would always say “I love to lay brick. He was always willing and ready to help family and friends with any work they needed. Robert enjoyed playing golf, tending his garden, sitting on the porch and talking on the phone with family and friends. He looked forward to a yearly beach vacation with his family. Robert was so proud of his grandson Devin and his wife Logan and great-granddaughter Lydia he always said she was the love of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Elbert, Sonny and Braxton Conner, stepson, Jamey Curry and brothers-in-law, Tony Conrad and Richard Cushman.

Surviving are his loving wife Teresa June Ball Conner of the home; grandson Devin Conner and wife Logan Spry Conner; great-granddaughter, Lydia all of Lexington; daughter, Connie James of Lexington; son, Robbie Conner; sisters, Doris Livengood, Brenda Collins (Doug) of Lexington; brothers, Steve Conner (Kaye) of Cleveland and Mitchell Conner (Carol)  of Winston Salem; brother and sisters-in-law, James M. Ball, David Keith Ball (Virgie), Mittie Ball Cushman, Donna Ball Hanes (Bobby) and Kathy Ball Conrad all of Lexington; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holly Grove Lutheran Church, 212 Holly Grove Lutheran Church Road, Lexington, NC  27292

The family would like to express great appreciation to the emergency room and staff at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health in Lexington, Air Care, and staff at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem.
