Robert David Daniels, Sr., 77, of Lexington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, Thursday, February 12, 2026, after a period of declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in the chapel of Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Mark Rachels officiating. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, on Monday, February 16, 2026, and other times at the home.
A native of Davidson County, he was born on December 5, 1948, a son of the late Robert Grover “R.G.” Daniels and the late Iva Everhart Daniels. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War for two years. During his tour of duty, he received the prestigious award of the Purple Heart. David was a true family man, he married his beloved wife, Patty Hanes Daniels in August of 1968. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He was the owner and operator of David Daniels Construction for over 40 years. After his retirement he was able to spend more time enjoying his hobbies of woodworking, camping, and farming.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Burkhart; and his beloved K-9 companion, Tootsie.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Patty Daniels; son, Robert Daniels, Jr. (Angie); daughter, Brenda McElrath (Perry); grandchildren, Cameron McElrath, Colby McElrath, Sydney Styers (Cody), and Kadie Daniels; sister, Pat Jarvis (Bob); and brother-in-law, Steve Burkhart.
In addition to the staff at Medi-Hospice the family would like to thank Tara, Jessica, and Ciera, for their loving and compassionate care provided to David as health continued to deteriorate.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to Medi-Hospice and Home Care, 1007 Lexington Avenue, Thomasville, NC 27360.
