Robert Alexander Dennis, Jr.

Robert Alexander Dennis Jr. 93, of Lexington, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Brian Center of Lexington. A Funeral Service will 2 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at North Lexington Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Dennis was born October 16, 1916 in Fuquay Springs, NC to Robert A. and Verda Derzelia Dennis. He was the retired owner and operator of Cut Rate Supermarket in Durham and honorably served his country in WWII in the Navy. He also served as a Gideon with the North Davidson Camp. His parents and his wife, Cornelia Washburn Dennis preceded him in death. He was also was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 1 sister. Surviving are his daughters, Shirley Floyd and husband Robert and Linda Porter and husband Rommie all of Lexington. One Step Son: Paul Katabian and wife Ann of Virginia Beach, Va. One Granddaughter, Tamara Nifong and husband Tim of Lexington. Grandsons: Robert Floyd Jr. and his wife Kim of Charlotte, Kristopher Floyd and his wife Heather of Arlington Texas, Joseph Burgess and his wife Jennifer of Monroe N.C., Drew Katabian and his wife Perry and Mark Katabian and his wife Summer all of Virginia Beach Va. Great Grandchildren: Jason Nifong, Chase Nifong and wife Heather, Madison Nifong, Brenna Burgess, William Katabian and Kristopher Katabian. One brother, Stedman Dennis of Fuquay Varina, NC The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2 pm at the church prior to the service and at other times at the home of Shirley and Robert Floyd, Garland Drive, Lexington.
