Robert M. Disher, Sr., 83 died Tuesday May 6, 2008 in Lexington Health Care after an illness of 10 months. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Lexington Community Church with Rev. Ben Bishop, Associate Pastor at St. Marks Church in Burlington and Rev. Roger Worley. A private burial will be at an earlier time at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Disher was born in Davidson County on December 30, 1924 to Fred Virgil Disher and Martha Sheek Disher. He was a former heating and air sales representative and his highest priorities were his Christian faith, his uncommon devotion to his wife of 60 years, and his untiring commitment to his 3 children and 4 grandchildren. At Lexington Community Church he served many years in leadership positions. He honorably served his country during WWII in the US Army and was a Masonic member of Lexington Memorial 473. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Robert M. Disher, III (Robby) and sister, Elizabeth Carrick
Surviving are his wife Bobbie Burleson Disher of the home; sons, Bob Disher, Jr. and wife Susan of Burlington; Eric Disher and wife Jackie of Lexington; daughter Lora D. Younts and husband Pepper of Lexington; Grandchildren, McKenzie Disher Hardison and husband Bart of Fuquay Varina; Ashley Disher and Lydia Disher both of Lexington and expecting a great grandchild in November.
The family will receive friends following the service at Lexington Community Church and at other times at the home 172 Ruth Dr.
