Robert Donald Fritts “Don” died peacefully at Hinkle Hospice House on January 29, 2017 at the age of 95. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, at Becks Reformed Church. Burial with military graveside rites by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow. Pastor James Byers will officiate the ceremony and “Don’s son, Rodney Fritts will speak on the life of our father. All are welcome to attend and celebrate “Don’s” life. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Don was born on July 18, 1921, in Lexington, to Patrick David and Ola Mae Fritts. He attended Davis Townsend School in Lexington. He served in the Army during World War II and after returning to Lexington he resumed working for Dixie Furniture Company as their chief mechanic where he worked for over 40 years. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, patient and driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Don was a generous, witty and dedicated individual who loved fishing, bowling, and being a Ham Radio operator in his early years. He was passionate about loving and caring for his family. He was an active and dedicated member of Becks Reformed Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Fritts; and a sister, Helen Craver. Don is survived by his wife, Pat Swing Fritts; three children, Tony Fritts of Lexington, Donna Plants of Evans, GA, and Rodney Fritts of Fishersville, VA; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two siblings, Bobby Fritts of Lexington and Peggy Smith of Denton.
