Robert Mitchell Eggleston Sr., 75, of Davidson County passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Salisbury National Cemetery, with Pastor Sammy Allison officiating.
Robert was born on October 9, 1948, in Davidson County, to the late James Curtis Eggleston Sr. and Clara Haneline Eggleston. He proudly served his country in the Navy during Vietnam and later went on to become a Master Tech, one of only two in Lexington, before working and retiring from B.E. Aerospace as quality control inspector. Robert enjoyed deer hunting, water skiing, racing cars, and golfing. He also loved hanging out with his friends from Lexington Motor Company. Robert was known to go out of his way to help anyone and had a heart for people. His greatest joy was that of his family. An excellent husband and father who loved his family more than anything is who he was.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Curtis Eggleston Jr.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 45 years, Annette Eggleston, of the home; son, Robert Eggleston Jr., of Winston-Salem; daughters, Loretta Burgess (Wes), of Lexington, Kay Donathan (Rick), of Mocksville, and Crystal Eggleston, of Lexington; one sister, Carol Lowe; four grandchildren, Kali Eggleston, Michael Sanfilippo (Stephanie), Summer McGuire, and Cameron Stephens; two great-grandchildren, Levi, and Jackson; nephew, Mitch Garmer, and other nieces and nephews; and his two precious fur babies, Grizzly and Tiger.
