Robert Luther Farabee, 87, of Greensboro Street Extension, died Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Pilgrim Reformed Church, where he was a member, with the Revs. Richard Moore and William Sowers officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, and other times at the home.
Mr. Farabee was born September 18, 1928, in Davidson County, to Luther Olin Farabee and Martha Warner Farabee. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, was a former employee of Emory Mock Builders and later retired from GW Smith Lumber Company where he had been a Yard Foreman. Mr. Farabee was a member of the American Legion Post 8 and Amvets Post 13. He also served his community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jackie Ward Farabee, who died June 12, 2003; grandson, Lance Hodges; brothers, Howard Farabee and Paul Farabee; and sisters, Betty Snyder, Mabel Henson, Ann Ainsworth, Ruth Lamb and Frances Landsperger.
Surviving are daughters, Rita Hodges, Geri Hege (Gerald), and Robin Beck (Richard), all of Lexington; grandchildren, Keith Hege, Travis Hege, Holly Hodges, Jaime Stafford (Lauren), Heather Warner (Billy), Jeremy Beck (Amanda) and Justin Beck (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Stacy and Addy Everhart, Jackie and Nathan Stafford, Peyton and Elle Warner, Abbie and Kaleb Beck, Makenzie and Ty Gordon, Graci Gibbs and Jessica Ryan; and brother, Ronald Farabee (Marian) of Vero Beach, Fl.
