Robert Glenn Griggs, Sr.

Robert Glenn Griggs Sr., 80, of Ralph Miller Road, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 2, 2024, at his home on the Griggs Farm.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Midway Church, with the Rev. Pastor John Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 2:45 pm Thursday, March 7th at the Midway Christian Fellowship Center.

Glenn was born July 1, 1943, in Forsyth County to John Lyde Griggs and Florence Miller Griggs. He was born and raised on a NC Century Farm, and his love of farming continued throughout his life. Glenn married his sweetheart Loretta Lee Foster on June 17, 1967. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school classes with his wife at Midway Methodist Church, where he was a lifetime member and usher. He loved to travel and kept many mementos of the trips he took with his family. In addition to farming, he worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, retiring after 37 years of service. Following his retirement, he continued to serve his church and community in many ways. His brothers, Johnny Lyde Griggs, Jr., William Lynn Griggs, Sr., and Dale Miller Griggs preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Foster Griggs, of the home; his sons Robert Glenn Griggs, Jr. (Julie) and Jonathan Foster Griggs (Stephanie); his grandsons Judson Glenn Griggs and Jacob Archer Griggs; his granddaughter Kathryn Griggs Stevens (Alex); his “main man,” great-grandson David Link Stevens; nephews Brandon, John, Lynn and Rocky Griggs; niece Sherry Griggs Burick and sisters-in-law Dana and Janet Griggs.

The family extends our deepest thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to Wellcare Hospice, Ruby Dickens, Deborah Deschamps, Mia Cockrane, Sheryl Gadson, and Laura Koontz for the kind, loving care they provided to Mr. Griggs.
