Robert Allen Holmes

Please note : Due to the governor's orders amidst the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Celebration of Life service that was previously planned for Mr. Holmes has been rescheduled and will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday July 11, 2020 at Union Grove Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.

Robert Allen Holmes, 77, of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2020 at The Hinkle Hospice House.

Mr. Holmes was born on February 20, 1943 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to the late John and Dorothy London Holmes. Robert was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, where he was involved with the Men’s Bible Study group and participated in special singing for the church. He proudly served our country in the US Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronnie Kriner; and his sister, Patty Stern.

Ones left to honor his memory are his loving wife, Susan Clarlene Klinetop Holmes, of the home; son, Philip John Holmes (Melody) of Michigan; daughters, Patricia Holmes Owens of Michigan; and Ruth Ellen Dumont (James) of Winston-Salem; brothers, John E. Holmes of Arizona; Joseph Kriner of PA; and Harry Holmes of TN; sisters, Ruth Ellen Spurlin of Georgia; Barbara Boyles of NY; Sandy Walling of SC; and Debbie Simon of PA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
