Robert Glenn Jones Sr.

Robert Glenn Jones, 89, of Shirley Rd., Lexington died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 in Brian Center Nursing Home after a brief illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm Friday just prior to the service, and other times at the home on Shirley Road. Mr. Jones was born August 5, 1925 in Schuylkill County, PA to Glenn T. Jones and Mary McCready Jones. He was a retired Plant Manager for Edgewood Apparel and a member of Meadowview Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge and the Gideons International. Robert was a US Veteran having served as a Marine. His wife, Carol Nelson Jones preceded him in death March 2003. Surviving are three sons, Robert Jones (Brenda) of McFarlan, NC, Alan Jones (Cindy) of Lexington, Kevin Jones of Thomasville; a daughter, Nancy Shires (Don) of Rainesville, AL; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dale Jones of PA.
