Robert Keith Leonard, 64, of Lexington, won his battle with cancer on Monday, October 19, 2015, at Hinkle Hospice House.
A celebration of his life will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elton Wilborne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 22, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
Mr. Leonard was born June 9, 1951, in Davidson County, to Palmer Leonard and Vallie Mae Hedrick Leonard. He worked in the Furniture Industry for many years until retiring from Linwood Furniture and was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Thomasville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Garland Leonard and Donald Leonard; and sister, Emogene Houser.
Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Connie Kay Shelton Leonard of the home; son, Brian Leonard and wife Wendy of Lexington; four grandchildren, Amanda, Jacob, Will and Alicia Mann and husband, Ben; his very precious great-grandson, Christian Keith, who was pa’s buddy; brothers, Gary Leonard (Debbie) and Jerry Leonard (Sharon), all of Lexington; sisters, Judy Tysinger (Johnny), Kay Hanes (Ronnie), Linda Blankenship and Doris Leonard, all of Lexington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A special thank you is extended to Tracy Kerley and Emily Owen as well as all the staff of the Hospice of Davidson County for their compassionate love and kindness; also, a very special thank you for the love and support shared by his sister, Judy Tysinger and her husband Johnny. A special thank you also goes to his lifelong friend Paul Temple and wife Pam and special friend David Smith for always being there for him.
