Robert Lee Koonts

Robert “Bobby” Koonts, 87, of Stratford Road, died Sunday September 15, 2019 at Highpoint Hospital.

The funeral service will be 2 pm, Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Davidson Funeral Home with Pastor Butch Conrad officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service.

Mr. Koonts was born October 5, 1931, in Davidson County, to Thurman Boyd Koonts  and Myrtle Thomas Koonts.He attended Reeds Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Dorsett Koonts, a daughter; Cynthia Smith, two sisters, Frances Floyd, Dorothy Bailey and brother in-law; Ernest Lee.

Surviving are his sons; Danny Koonts and wife Angie and Robert Koonts Jr. and wife Raye Ann, daughter, Cecilia Beauchamp all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Scott Koonts whom he raised as if he were her own child and wife Elizabeth, Toby Varner and wife Soufin, Courtney Thrift and husband Michael, Anna Koonts and Daniel Koonts; five great-grandchildern, Chelsea Walters and husband Nick, Colton Thrift, Noah Thrift, Nathan Varner and Willow MaryJo Koonts and sister, Verna Lee..
