Robert Craig Lanier, born June 4, 1952, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, after experiencing a decline in health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Father, Bernard Watson Lanier and Mother, Annie Coggins Lanier.
Craig was the devoted husband of Terry Lanier, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family. He was a proud father to Casey Lanier and daughter-in-law Tasha Wilson Lanier, and a deeply devoted grandfather to Alex Lanier, Anna Lanier and Payton Lanier, who were the joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Bernadine Lanier Parks.
Throughout his career, Craig worked in manufacturing and later as a delivery driver for a local electrical supply company before retiring. Retirement never slowed him down—he remained busy and active, enjoying bicycle riding, fixing odds and ends, and, in his later years, developing a special passion for restoring vintage axes and hatchets. His hands were rarely still, and he found satisfaction in bringing new life to well-used tools.
Above all else, Craig valued his family. He dedicated much of his life to his children and grandchildren, always present, always willing to help, and always leading by example through quiet strength and steady love.
Craig loved and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, and his faith guided him throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the values he passed down, and the love he shared so freely.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Memorial Service to honor Craig’s life will be held at Davidson Funeral Home on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Roger Cook officiating the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, starting at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
