Robert Franklin Rachels, 78, of U.S. Highway 64 West, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center following an illness of one month.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Reeds Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Revs. Dave Williams and Morris Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mr. Rachels was born December 20, 1933, in Davidson County, to Richard Rachels and Eva Creed Rachels. He was retired from Proctor and Schwartz. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Lonnie Rachels and Aubry Rachels.
Surviving are his loving wife, Evelyn Lenore Myers Rachels of the home; sons, David Rachels and wife, Lisa, of Clayton, and Rev. Mark Rachels and wife, Tammi, of Lexington; grandchildren, Jamie Howell and husband, David, and Melissa Overby and husband, Sammy; great-grandchildren, Aden Overby and Tyler Overby; brother, Hoytt Rachels and wife, Ann, of Lubbock, Texas.; and sisters, Pearl Walser and Elizabeth Wood, both of Lexington.
