Robert J. Schmidt Jr.

Robert J. Schmidt, Jr., 58, of Owens Road, passed away peacefully after a very brief illness, Monday, December 27, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home. Mr. Schmidt was born July 12, 1952, to Robert Jackson “Jack” Schmidt Sr., and Cecelia Jane McClenny Schmidt. He was born and raised in Stamford, Ct. He resided in the High Point area for the last 15 years. He worked for Henredon Drexel Heritage and was employed at Jessica Charles at the time of his death. Rob was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer, bowler and loved playing pool, darts and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Schmidt Paiva. Surviving are his sisters, Gayle Mahalik of Fairfield, Ct., Susan Tarantino of Snellville, Ga., and Debra Lemon Nies of Beaufort; eight nieces and nephews; and 12 great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a very special brother-in-law, Mike Lemon and his wife, Laura, of Lexington. His family sincerely appreciates all their loving care and support during this time.
