Robert Edward Lee Stokes Sr., 70, of Snider Road, went to be with our beloved Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 2, 2016. He passed away due to complications from an automobile accident. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Davidson Funeral Home with Bishop Tim McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at the funeral home. Robert was born March 18, 1946, to Grover Stanley Stokes and Mamie Leggette Stokes. For 50 years he was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He will be remembered for his unconditional love for his family and his catch phrase “Keep a smiling”. Our beloved dad was a light and inspiration to others. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Stokes and Jim Stokes; a sister, Barbara Philyaw. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years Jackie Bowden Stokes; children, Robert Edward Lee “Robby” Stokes Jr. (Crystal), Carol Stokes Cox (Tony Ray); grandchildren, Brenden Stokes, Crystal Cox, Brittany Cox, and Taz Tucker, all of Lexington; three sisters, Betty Jean Bailey, Rochelle Varnum and Juanita Hughes; and two brothers, Rayborn Stokes and Tommy Smith. “A life that touches others goes on forever”. He will be painfully missed.
