Robert Nelson Taylor

Robert “Bob” Nelson Taylor Jr., 73, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Lexington, North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, June 09, 2024, at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Lexington with Rev. Dr. Kelly Moore officiating services.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm prior to the service on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.

Robert was born on July 28, 1950, in Sampson County to the late Robert and Ora Taylor. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Taylor. Bob graduated from North Davidson High School in 1968. Bobby, as he was known to family, was married to Cathy, the love of his life, for 54 years. He served in the Army National Guard Reserves for seven years and later received his bachelor’s degree from High Point University. He was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Welcome for over 50 years, serving in various leadership roles and was beloved for his special gift of delivering children’s sermons. Bob retired from Freud America as a credit manager. In retirement, he enjoyed a second career as a Teacher’s Assistant at Midway Church preschool. The children dearly loved “Mr. Bobby” and he loved them in return. He treasured time with family and a round of golf at every opportunity. He adored his daughters and proudly followed his grandchildren to soccer, volleyball, basketball, and wrestling events.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy Taylor; two daughters, Amy Taylor Wiles (Matthew) of Arcadia and Laura Taylor White (James) of Welcome; three grandchildren, Ethan Wiles, Brandon White, and Heidi Spainhour.

The Taylor Family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers of Well Care Hospice for their compassion in the services provided to Robert.
