Robert John Thompson

MIDWAY - Robert John Thompson, 63, of Midway School Road in Midway died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center. Robert was born March 19, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, to Robert George Thompson and Helen Schmock Thompson. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a senior electrician. He was preceded in death by a stepson, J. Fitzgerald Dellart. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Lanier Thompson, of the home; his father, Robert Thompson, of Arkansas; and two daughters, Deborah Abu-Dames of Greensboro and Kimberly Dirkson and her husband, Kelly, of Iowa. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Gwendolyn Lanier, of Midway. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel, with the Rev. Lee Pollock officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
