Robert David Torrence Sr.

Robert David Torrence Sr., 80, of Crews Lake Road, died Friday, August 02, 2013, at his home. The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Reeds Baptist Church, where he was a member and served as an usher for many years, with the Revs. Dave Williams and John Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mr. Torrence was born January 4, 1933, in Mecklenburg County, to Earl Wooten Torrence and Zula Tevepaugh Torrence. He was employed at Vendomatic servicing carwashes in Lexington and was a former member of Reeds Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Fred Torrence and Stamey Torrence. Surviving are his loving wife, Ruby Torrence of the home; sons, Robert David Torrence Jr. and wife Donna of Lexington and Jeffrey Scott Torrence and wife Lettie of Thomasville; daughters, Brenda Simmons and husband James and Kathy Staten and husband David, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Sammy Staten (Adrianne), Brian Staten, Wendy Rumfelt (Heath), Angie Martin;; (Rocke), Michael Denton (Becky), Josh Torrence; three step-grandchildren, Crystal Beasley, Brandon Simmons, and Chris Simmons; and six great-grandchildren, Luke and Eli Staten, Zach and Justin Yarbrough, and Katie and Jake Denton.
