Robert K. Watkins, Sr.

Robert Kitchen Watkins, Sr., 92 of Clemmons entered the gates of heaven Sunday, February 20, 2022. A celebration of life service will be held at Friday, February 25 at 2:00 pm at Good Hope United Methodist Church, by the Rev. William R. Jarrett. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors preceding the service starting at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Robert was born in Granville County on April 23, 1929 to Oscar Kitchen Watkins and Hattie Sue Wheeler Watkins. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather (G’pa), and brother whose memory will be cherished forever. Robert was a faithful Christian and a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church were he served as a greeter and big supporter of the Kid’s Backpack Program. Robert ended his successful career at Suburban Propane as District Manager after 40 years of service. He was a honorably discharged member of the United States Army Reserve were he faithfully served for 33 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Lou, and siblings Clyde, Fannie Lou, James Dudley, Seby, Marionette, and Betty Jean. Left to cherish his memory are his loving son, Robert Kitchen Watkins, Jr. (Melinda) of Lewisville; two daughters, Vickie Watkins Davis (David) of Durham and Gail Watkins Killman of Wilmington; a brother, Jack Watkins (Judy) of Oxford; and cherished grandson, Noah Hunter Watkins.
