Rodney Dean "Red" Bull

January 1, 1956 — October 8, 2024

Rodney Dean “Red” Bull, 68, of Lexington, passed away October 8, 2024, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 14, 2024, at Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ, where he attended regular, with the Rev Alex Nance officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the fellowship hall at the church. And other times at the home of his sister, Robin Sink.

Rodney was born January 1, 1956, in Forsyth County, to the late Robert Clinton Bull and Lydia Meadows Bull. Red was devoted to attending church and being with the church family. He retired from Master Brand Cabinets.  His passion was his faith, church and family. Red was a loving husband, brother, and uncle, who will be missed by all.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David Bull who died 1996 and his nephew Jeff Bull who died in 2022.

Red as most knew him was an avid race fan, not just NASCAR but he also enjoyed a good lawnmower race. Those that knew him knew he had a hobby of going to auctions. He was always looking for the best deals. Whether he needed it or not, he would buy it and find someone to give it to or hoard it in one of his spare rooms. He had a servant’s heart and would lend a helping hand to his friends and especially when family needed him. He was the master seller of peanut brittle for his late parent’s church, sometimes selling hundreds of cakes in a season. He was a jack of all trades yet a master of none. Uncle Red could always be found at a baseball game or any other sporting event with a huge bag of bubble gum for his “bubbies” great nephews Jaxon and Brayden Byerly. They were the light of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them up until his last days. He was the practical joker of the family and loved a good laugh, even dressing up in a gorilla costume for a downtown cruise-in to hand out candy to the little ones. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. Even though Uncle Red has reached his final resting place we find joy in all the memories we have of him. He fought the good fight and finished his earthly race.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sylvia Gibson Tysinger Bull of the home, brother, Jeff Bull of Lakeland, Florida, sisters, Charlotte Musser of Fort Myers, Florida, Amy Lahaie (Drew) of Walkertown, NC, Cynthia Campbell (Dennis) of Ramseur, NC, Robin Sink (Dwight) and Maria Brinkley (Bobby) of Lexington, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Red’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the care team on the 7th floor of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Your care and compassion did not go unnoticed
