Rodney Huston Huffman

Mr. Rodney Huston Huffman, 85, of NC Highway 8, died Wednesday, February 24 at his home after a period of declining health.

A funeral service will be held at 4pm Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Stoners Grove Baptist Church, by the Rev. Billy Pearson.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 2:30 to 4pm Saturday prior to the service.

Mr. Huffman was born October 9, 1935 in Roanoke, VA to Grover Marcus Huffman and Anna Laura Greenway Huffman.  He retired from Associated Brokers and was a member of Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of Deacons, Brotherhood Director, a Trustee, served on the  Baptismal Committee and a Sunday School Teacher.  He loved to sing in the choir and had a distinct voice that could be heard over everyone. A member of Southmont Lions Club where he served as Past President and membership chairman and was a Mason. His parents; brothers, Grover Huffman, Jr, Garland Huffman, and Roy Huffman, and his sister, Pauline Ruble, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Robertson Huffman of the home; his daughters, Linda Busick (Russ) and Teresa Mason (Chris), both of McLeansville, and Donna Bates of Floyd, VA; step-daughter, Angela McGuire (Fiance’ Geoffrey) of Marietta, GA; step-son, Todd Earnhardt (Vicki) of Cumming, GA, his sister, Capie Guthrie of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, James, Ashley, Chad, David, Stephanie, Breanna, T.J., Mykalea, Gracie, Mylaina and Gavyn; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
