Rodney Dale Koontz

Rodney Dale Koontz, 50, of Jersey Church Road, died Thursday, July 14, 2011. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Jersey Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Thomas Allen and Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mr. Koontz was born May 19, 1961, in Newport News, Va., to Earlie “Bud” Koontz Jr. and Carrie Coleman Koontz. He was a shipping clerk with Kurz Transfer Products, a member of Moose Lodge 317 of Lexington, and he also served in the U.S. National Guard. Rodney was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife, Alice Smith Koontz of the home; sons, Travis Koontz and Cory Koontz, both of Lexington; his mother, Carrie Coleman Koontz, of Lexington; and brothers, Chris Koontz and wife, Jamie, of Lexington and Greg Koontz and wife, LaDonna, of Elkridge, Md.
