Rodney Gene Leonard of Lexington passed away suddenly Sunday July 10, 2016 from a heart attack that caused the motorcycle accident that took his life. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2016 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Messer officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Reformed Cemetery, with military honors by Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday night and at other times at the home of his daughter, 153 Arnold Farms Lane, Lexington. Rodney was born in Davidson County, July 23, 1956 to Bryce Gene Leonard and Nancy Yarbrough Leonard. He was a employee of Rods Car Crushing and a former member of Pilgrim Reformed UCC. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, Lake and Helen Leonard and uncles, Charles and Austin Leonard. Surviving are his wife, Dana Freeman Leonard of the home; daughter, Cheryl Leonard (fiancée Philip Ragan) of Lexington; son, Aaron Leonard of Lexington; grandchildren, Brook Ragan, Gracey Ragan and Laken Leonard; his mother, Nancy Yarbrough Nizko of Melbourne, FL; sisters, Yvonne Jones (Dexter) and Elaine Fortner all of Lexington and Melissa Mills of Satelite Beach, FL; brother, Mark Leonard of Lexington; special friend, Tim Patterson and numerous other friends.
