Rodney Eugene Walser, 50, of Reedy Creek Baptist Church Road, Lexington, passed away September 28, 2022, at Novant Health – Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC.
A celebration of Rodney’s life will be held on Sunday, October 2 at 2:00 PM at Good Hope United Methodist Church in Lexington, where he was a lifelong member, with the Reverends Johnny Lord and Chris Bennett, officiating. Interment of Rodney’s ashes will take place at a later time.
Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 PM, Saturday, October 1 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the Walser family home on Old Mill Farm Road.
Rodney was born on May 17, 1972, in Davidson County to Ralph Eugene and Vera Davis Walser. An only child, Rodney was a dedicated son and an honorary “uncle” to so many. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Davis Walser, his grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Surviving is his father, Ralph Walser, of the home, in addition to multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and his godchildren. Rodney was a 1990 graduate of North Davidson High School, where he continued to cheer on his beloved Black Knights during football season. Rodney was employed by Breeden Insurance and was previously employed by Lexington State Bank, now First National Bank.
Rodney truly had a heart of gold and brought joy to all who had the honor of knowing him. His life is a shining example of a true servant and his belief in making life better for those he encountered. He was actively involved in the Lexington Downtown Lions Club, served as treasurer of Good Hope United Methodist Church, and was involved with the Backpack Ministry at local schools, as well as multiple other charities.
Memorials may be directed to the Good Hope UMC backpack ministry or the organization of the donor’s choosing.
