Roger Dale “Rocky” Chandler 56, of Lexington, passed away early Thursday morning in Hinkle Hospice House after a four month illness.
To honor Roger’s request no funeral services will be held.
Roger was born March 25, 1958 in Sanford Fla. to Aubrey Gene Chandler and Patricia Allen Chandler. From the time of birth he was nicknamed “Rocky “because, that is what, his father started calling him. His early years were in Florida, where he started his education until 1969, when the family returned to Lexington and Rocky entered schools here; attending Dunbar, and Lexington Middle School, before deciding to start his working career. He worked at Dixie Furniture, Jones Door Company in Mocksville, and began his career in construction, remodeling Marriott Hotels, traveling to New York, Maryland, and Florida before his health forced him to retire. He was preceded in death by his father on November 11, 2002 and his stepfather Jimmy Honeycutt on August 14, 2014.
Rocky is survived by his mother of Lexington; his brothers Tony Gene Chandler and Timothy Allen Chandler both of Lexington; his special companion Julia Barnes Johnson of Lexington as well as, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
