Mr. Roger Lee King, 68, of Link Road, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 6 at his home A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday at Grace Journey Church of Prophecy, by the Rev. Gerald Shean. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Knoll Cemetery in Ramseur. The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:30pm Friday at the church prior to the funeral service. Mr. King was born December 22, 1947 in Saltville, VA to Deroy King, Sr. and Fannie Mae Holmes King. He attended Asheboro High School and was a veteran of the US Navy. He retired from Stroh’s Brewery and was a member of D.A.V. Chapter 39. He attended Grace Journey Church of Prophecy and loved riding his motorcycle and his Mustang. He was an avid runner and fan of Duke University. He loved his family and his grandchildren. His father and his son, Roger Lee King, Jr., preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Carol Winterquest King of the home; his mother of Lexington; his daughters, Lori Ann King, whom he referred to as the only child, and Kimberly King Hunt (Christopher), both of Lexington; his brothers, Deroy King, Jr. and Edward Lee King (Bridgit), both of Lexington; his grandchildren, Titus Hunt, Jordan Hunt, and Patient Hunt; and a special friend, Lynn Holder of Lexington.
