Roger Lee “Bill” Martin, age 65, of Parks Road, Lexington passed away Saturday at Hinkle Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday at Bethany United Methodist Church where he was a member with Rev. David Talbert officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 2:00 until 3:00 pm, prior to the service.
Roger was born in Surry County April 14, 1949 to Ocer Richard and Betty Tucker Martin. He was a former employee of Shields, Inc., Coble Dairy, and Lexington Health Care. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lena Josey Martin; sisters, Mary Ann Scott and Shirley Marie Spainhour; special uncle, Early Martin.
Surviving are his best friend and companion, Janice Hedrick of Lexington and her family; brothers, Lonnie Wayne Martin, Sr. of Danbury, David James Martin (Gloria) of Mt. Airy; Tony Martin (Darlene) and Ocer Richard Martin, Jr. (Robin) all of Shoals; step-daughter, Claudia Brown of Winston Salem; step-grandsons, Kenny and Benny Brown; step-granddaughter, Tiffany Brown; his special little buddy, Rebecca King of Durham; special aunt, Linda Martin; and special cousin, Sandra Martin Haymore both of Shoals.
