Roma Lanier

Roma Jean Gouge Lanier, 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away September 24, 2024, at her home in Winston-Salem.

A celebration of her life will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Pastors Avery Varnadore, Michael McDaniel, and Dean Thomason officiating the service. The family will see friends in the church life center one hour before the service.

Roma was born December 6, 1943, in Carter County, Tennessee, to Sammuel Lester “Sam” Gouge and Edna Simerly Gouge. Roma was a devoted member of the church and the church family. She was retired from nursing. Her passion was her faith, church, family and especially her grandchildren. Roma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Gouge.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Lawrence J. Lanier of the home, son, Scott Lanier and wife Vicki of Virginia, daughters, Beth Miller and husband Dana of Charlotte, Lynette Tuttle and husband Keith of Little River, SC, grandchildren, Allison Tuttle, Nikki Orbison, Josuha Orbison, Andrew Lanier, Ray Lanier, Eva Marie Cartwright, great grandchildren, Alexa Kittle, Alivia Gubanez. Also surviving are her sisters, Glenna Bennett, and Aloma Lane, nieces, Kathy Bennett Padgett, Sandra Lane Heath, Nephews, Ron Lane, Scott, Brian, and Greg Gouge. Her special family friends, Janice Neal and Treva Grandy, Harold Gandy, Jack Ellis, Brenda Bowman, and Michelle Flowers, Holly Burgess.
