Ron Seaford

January 11, 1949 — February 23, 2025

Ronald (Ron) Glenn Seaford, 76, passed away at his home in the early hours of February 23, 2025.

A funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 4 pm Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ in Lexington, with Rev. David Crook and Pastor Alex Nance officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 3 pm.  There will be reserved seating for members of the Central Davidson Class of 1967. A celebration of life will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.  Family will receive friends at other times at the home.

Service will be live streamed from Hedricks Grove Reforemed UCC youtube channel.

Ron was preceded in death by his loving parents, Early Glenn Seaford and Lillian Marie Hedrick Seaford, and his beloved sister, Glenda and her husband Bobby Kilby.

Ron was born in the Hedrick’s Grove community where he lived his entire life.  He was a proud member of the Central Davidson Senior High School Class of 1967 and remained close friends with classmates over the years. He started his career as a teenager working as a curb boy at The Barbecue Center, and was drafted into the US Army where he worked in the mess hall at the Camp Casey Army base in Korea.

He was the owner and operator of Berrier’s Restaurant for 27 years. While Ron enjoyed serving food, he loved talking with his customers even more, especially his regulars, many of whom became lifelong friends. When he closed Berrier’s in 2000, he opened On Time Catering, which his son continues to operate and serve daily meals to seniors in numerous counties, as well as catering memorable weddings and special events.

Ron loved attending his grandsons’ sporting events where he was known as “PawPaw” by the entire team.  He was also an avid supporter of NC State Wolfpack athletics and served as Davidson County Chairman of the Wolfpack Club for many years.  One of his proudest moments was when he and Nancy attended the 1983 NCAA Championship Basketball game in Albuquerque, New Mexico to watch his beloved Wolfpack cut down the nets as national champions.

As a community leader, Ron was involved with Lexington Crimestoppers, Civitans and Investors Club.  He was a lifetime member of Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ, where he enjoyed sitting on the back pew on Sunday mornings and socializing with his friends from the Brotherhood.

More than anything, Ron enjoyed fishing with Jackson, Mason and Smith and his lifelong friends on the North Carolina Coast.

He is survived by Nancy Smith Seaford, his devoted wife of 54 years; daughter Geelea and her husband Michael Shipton of Pittsboro; son Wesley and significant other Stephanie Hearn of Lexington; his grandsons whom he adored, Jackson, Mason and Smith Seaford, as well as Abi, Jacob and Wilson Hearn; and sister, Martha Sue Swing and husband Richard.

The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Dr. Amret Hawfield; his caregivers at Piedmont Crossing Rehabilitation; Callie, Emily and Kaitlyn of Hospice of Davidson County; Leroy Simon, Gerry Floyd and Margaret Santoro.  We would also like to thank the loyal and hardworking employees of On Time Catering who continue to carry forward Ron’s legacy of excellent service and hospitality.

The family would welcome memorials be made in Ron’s memory to Hospice of Davidson County or Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ.

Ron was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and all those whom he touched.
