Ronald Welch Bevan, 77 of Old Salisbury road, Lexington, died Tuesday June 24, 2014 at Wake Forest University Baptist Lexington Medical Center following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday June 28, 2014, at the Amets Post 13 on Marcos Blvd in Lexington, with Woody Bowman officiating services.
Mr Bevan was born July 14, 1936 in Guilford County, to Charles F. Bevan and Elizabeth Ruth Bencnni Bevan. He was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church. Mr. Bevan served his country in the United States Army for 10 years and was honorably discharged earning rank of E-7. After returning home from serving his country he joined the Amvets Post 13, the American Legion Post 8, DAV. Chapter 39 and the Allied Veterans Post 9. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Danny Bevan and a brother Charles Bevan
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Mary Joyce Owens Bevan of the home; three daughters, Sherry Gobble and husband Jerry, Charlene Mabe and husband Mark, and Gay Hegler and husband Scott, all of Lexington; two brothers, Lawrence Bevan and wife Linda of Trinity, Leon Bevan and wife Vicky of Lexington; one sister Ann Carr and husband John of Rockingham; five grandchildren, Tina Benton, Michael Phillips, Jennifer Bevan, Larry Phillips and Britnie Holt; eight great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchhildren
The family would like to say a special thanks to a life long friend Greg Nard and also a special thank you to Jennifer Bevan for her loving contributions to her grandfather.
