Ronald Gray Clifton

Mr. Ronald Gray Clifton of Winston-Salem passed away on January 11, 2025.

A celebration of life will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel on January 20, 2025. Visitation will be at 3:00pm, followed by a memorial service at 4:00pm.

Ronald was born on January 5th, 1957 in Forsyth County to William Robert Clifton, Sr. and Ella Mae Stout Clifton.

A North Davidson High School graduate, Class of 1975, Ron was a loving husband, father, and friend. He found joy in bringing smiles to the faces of both friends and strangers through his humor and coaching. Ron was a world-renowned professional bowling coach, a former co-proprietor of Creekside Lanes, and inventor of Ron C’s Magic Carpet. Beyond his contributions to the bowling world, Ron was a car enthusiast with a particular fondness for the Datsun 510 and 280Z.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents.


Those left to cherish his memory are his high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Karen of the home, son Michael of Florida, and brother Robert (Ann) of Winston-Salem.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Youth Bowling Program at Piedmont USBC or to Hospice of Davidson County – 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. Memorials to the Youth Bowling Program should reference “In Memory of Ron Clifton” and be directed to Piedmont USBC Association – 5209 Bienard Ct, Walkertown, NC 27051 – USBCpiedmont@gmail.com
