Ronald "Ronnie" Allen Wilson

July 17, 1951 — April 18, 2011

Ronald Allen Wilson, 59, formally of Fairway Drive passed away Monday, April 18, 2011, at his home. He had battled cancer for nine months. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at North Lexington Baptist Church. Ronnie was born July 17, 1951, in Murphy, NC, to Roy Allen Wilson and Irene Jordan Wilson. He attended Lexington City Schools and Davidson County Community College. He joined the Marine Corp at age 18. After leaving the Marine Corp, he worked at Stone Container for several years before he found a job that he cared deeply about at the Workshop of Davidson. He felt so close to and cared so much about the special individuals and they loved him in return. Ron always had a smile and was never spoke of anyone in an unkind way. He was a quiet man by nature. He opened his heart and home to many friends along his way. Special memories for those left behind are his mother; son, Christopher and wife, Deb; daughter, Lori Moore and husband, Scott; three grandsons, Patrick, Landon and Garrett; a sister, Sherry Hondros; and a brother, Roy Lee. He had nieces and nephews, including Brandy Hondros, Erin de los Reyes, Mark Hondros, Ben Wilson, Jake Wilson; and numerous cousins. Also important in the love and care of Ron were Charm Dellinger, Sheila Wilson, Bill Hondros, and Dale and Charles Gressle. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Allen Wilson; brother, Larry Dean Wilson; stepfather, Carey Vaughan-Lloyd; maternal grandparents, Jake and Julia Jordan; and paternal grandparents, Fred and Bessie Wilson. At Ron’s request his body was donated to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in an effort to benefit research. His family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to our friends and the many churches who held prayer vigils for Ronnie. We are blessed by their love and support. Ron and family have requested donations be made to the Workshop of Davidson, 275 Monroe Road, Lexington, NC 27292; or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
